For over 15 years we have been providing disability support services in Tasmania. We pride ourselves on delivering better days, every day with and for our clients.

Paul is one of our clients in Tasmania. Before joining Able, Paul lived in a nursing home. In the nursing home, Paul was quiet and didn’t have a lot of contact. Paul also stopped wanting to travel and attend activities he once loved.

Today, Paul lives in a home supported by Able. “Now he’s happy, he is communicating more and he’s been incredibly flexible” says Gerard, Paul’s brother.

Since joining Able in 2020, Paul now travels again, such as going out animal spotting with his Able support worker. His favourite animal to spot with his torch are wallabies. Paul also loves nature, so he enjoys going for walks with his support and picking up sticks and branches. His love for nature extends to his home, as he likes to regularly tend to the plants in his backyard. Paul is a big sports fan and loves to watch his beloved Hawthorn footy team on TV. He is also a loyal supporter of the Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL, and keeps up with the horse races.

Paul has also discovered his love of art, specialising in creating beautiful handmade rugs. Paul often sits for hours working through this meditative practice of creating these brightly coloured, unique pieces of art. Pauls’ artwork was displayed at the entrance to the Moonah market in Tassie.

Paul’s brother Gerard says since Paul moved into an Able supported home “Everything’s working the way it’s supposed to. It’s also given us back time. It’s allowed me to be Paul’s big brother again and not feel like I’m his case manager”.

Able are so happy to support Paul to bring his dreams to life and help to create long lasting memories through building engagement and well-being.

We offer a range of support services for our clients like Paul in Tasmania, such as our Young Adults Program, designed to provide young adults with disability with an opportunity to learn life skills, build and develop positive relationships and friendships whilst becoming more independent.

At Able Australia, we provide individualised care to support our clients to live the life they choose. Through innovation, we tailor models of care to coincide with our commitment to providing industry leading quality support to people with disability and seniors.
