Able Australia is lucky to have so many volunteers in Queensland who kindly offer their time and effort to support the community’s most vulnerable groups.

Our volunteers help out in many different ways in the community. A few of Able’s volunteers prepare and cook  meals for vulnerable people within the community. Each week, they cook a variety of delicious dishes which are delivered to clients’ homes once per week by Able Australia volunteer drivers.

Additionally, centre-based social inclusion programs such as ‘Tune up Tuesdays’ and ‘Jimboomba Jollies’ are also catered for with morning tea and lunch by our lovely volunteers.

On Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Able volunteers leave at around 7:00am to collect donations from local stores and use this to purchase bread and vegetables. The produce is brought back to our Pantry Assistances to sort and become available at no cost to our pantry shoppers and clients (who are usually on a pension).

Our amazing volunteer truck drivers travel to the Foodbank (a large warehouse containing donated produce from the greater Brisbane area). Here, Able purchases more items that are available to our pantry shoppers.

During National Volunteer Week, we want to pay special thanks for their hard work and generosity.
