Thanks to George and Jonathon, our BBQ program continues to grow in popularity at our Day Services in Melbourne’s East.

For the last three months, clients and staff at Able Australia East Day Service started a fun regular activity of visiting local parks for a BBQ lunch!

Our BBQ program supports clients to keep active, socialise with friends, be outdoors and build on life skills of cooking. Starting off with George and his good friend Jonathon, this program is now a huge hit and runs weekly, with the group of clients attending rapidly growing.

Before the BBQ program, George used to not want to engage much social or active programs, and did not like trying new activities. However, since starting the BBQ program in July, George is thoroughly enjoying going for long walks in the park, cooking sausages on the BBQ and enjoying lunch with lots of his friends from the centre.

“George has become cheerful since the beginning of this program with our other clients’  says Adnan, Able Disability Support Worker.

Our clients and staff can’t wait to enjoy the sunshine at our next BBQ – put another snag on the barbie as they say!
