Meet Julie. Julie likes to keep busy throughout the week. “My typical week is interesting and full of activities” says Julie. “I go to a Mozart program on Monday and Wednesday, Hydrotherapy on Tuesday once per fortnight and Community Access with my Support Worker on Fridays”.

“Rana supports me to go out and about, pushing me around with my wheelchair. I feel with Rana’s support it is enjoyable and fun” says Julie when speaking about Rana, her Able Disability Support Worker. Julie lives in an Able supported home in Queensland.

Julie loves shopping, walking with her walker and going to the Sunday Market.

“When Rana is supporting me on the weekend, sometimes Rana will take me and my housemate to have lunch out together at the pub, which makes me feel happy and enjoy my weekend” says Julie.

Julie has achieved many goals in her journey so far with Able. “I feel increased in my mobility around the house, in walking, personal care and became more active. Rana encouraging me to reach my goal in increasing my mobility which I am grateful for” says Julie.

Julie also has goals for the future such as “to be able to do more things on my own like increasing my mobility Independent even more”.

Before having support from Able Australia, Julie felt “house bound and was not able to express myself much while living with my parents”. Now, Julie says “I feel more independent. I find Able supported me to do my daily activities and give me companionship from some Able staff”.
