Meet Jonathon! Jonathon loves cooking. He recently made pancakes from scratch on his own for the first time. He was so proud of his delicious creation and so was Michael, his housemate, who thanked him for the pancakes.
“Jonathan was so chuffed he came out immediately and told me! Huge smile on his face and an extra pep in his step” says Nikki, Jonathon’s Able Disability Support Worker.
Before moving into an Able Australia supported home in February last year Jonathon often felt angry and had become withdrawn. He spent a lot of time in his bedroom. Jonathon has worked hard in the past year to try new things and slowly interact with people in his home since moving into a supported home with Able.
With thanks to Nikki, his Able Disability Support Worker, Jonathon has been learning how to cook and they are currently putting together a recipe book for Jonathon.
Along with his new love of cooking, Jonathon also has a keen interest in sci-fi, going to the movies and playing games on his Xbox.
“Jonathan is now a more confident man who is talkative and has an amazing sense of humour” says Allison, Able Team Leader.
One of Jonathon’s new goals is to live on his own. He is now accepting the support from staff to learn new skills to help him achieve this goal.
