This year, we celebrated Queensland Seniors Week from 15-23 August!
Queensland Seniors Week provides opportunities to promote positive community attitudes towards older people and ageing, facilitate community participation, and enhance community connections.
During Seniors Week, as a part of our Active Living Program for Seniors, the Able Queensland team launched a Senior Stories book! This features the incredible short stories and poems from all the authors that that entered into our Senior’s Short Story Writing Competition earlier this year.
A hardcopy of the Senior Stories book was personally sent to all the authors that contributed to this amazing collection of stories. Copies were also sent to our Queensland sites for our clients to hopefully offer some light entertainment during social isolation.

To help make this week special for our senior clients, care packages that included activities and information were gifted to the seniors in the community.
Our Queensland Community Project Manager, Jessy Byrnes, worked in collaboration with the Queensland Police Service – Ipswich District Crime Prevention Unit, to provide these packages to Able’s West Moreton Transport Clients, local Retirement Villages, senior community members, and Neighbourhood Watch Committees.
