The Department of Health and Aged Care and Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services have appointed new providers for Aged Care and Community Services in South-East Queensland.

In April 2024, Able Australia announced that it had to make the decision to transition out of the provision of community transport; goods, equipment and assistive technology; social support and meals on wheels in Jimboomba, Raceview, Lowood and Southport.

“We are pleased to announce the selection of BlueCare, TransitCare, Feros Care, Star Community Services and Logan West Meals on Wheels as the quality providers to take over these services, as of Tuesday 1 October 2024’, said Lynette McKeown, CEO Able Australia.

Aged Care and Community Service clients will be supported through the transition process and new providers will make contact with clients prior to 1 October 2024 to ensure a smooth transition.

“Over the past ten years, these services have been provided by a committed team of staff and volunteers to the local community, and we will be working with the Departments, new providers, staff and volunteers to ensure that clients experience minimal disruption during the transition”.

As a not-for-profit service provider of over 50 years, Able Australia is retaining its focus on disability services across Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory.

Able’s disability services include supported independent living, specialist disability accommodation, positive behaviour support, day services, community participation and deafblind services.
