Accomplished artist, actor, radio presenter, musician and horticulturist Lawrence Dooley has added another feather to his cap – as a published author.

Dozens of people from across Australia gathered to celebrate the launch of Lawrence’s book This Book is About Me.

Lawrence was introduced to the crowd by Teena Tranter, who then handed over to his mother Lorraine before handing the mic to Lawrence, who emotionally thanked everyone for coming from far and wide to support him.

The story highlights the challenges that Lawrence has faced during his life, but focuses on the opportunities he has had through dedicated support – from kindergarten to high school and TAFE, allied health professionals and the support he has had through Community Access and Supported Independent Living. Lawrence has lived a full and rewarding life.

Excerpt from the Afterword:

I thank all the people who have helped me. I wouldn’t have done it if I wasn’t up to it. But if I try hard and appreciate what we are doing with the book I will be happy.

It is wonderful that I can achieve, in all my studies to get up to university studies with my radio show.
