On May 19 2021, during National Volunteers Week our team in Queensland hosted a volunteer open day. The event aimed to encourage more people to get involved in volunteering and give back to the community. The event was a great success with the Ipswich SES and Community Radio Station River 94.9 joining us on the day.
Able Australia’s dedicated volunteers give up their time to help vulnerable people within the community through a variety of services from transporting people to essential medical appointments or necessary shopping, bringing companionship to older Australians in aged care facilities, working in our meals on wheels programs, collecting grocery product or assisting in our food pantry, guiding those experiencing financial distress in our emergency relief activities or serving as the face of Able on reception. We couldn’t do it without the incredible generosity and self-less time donated by our volunteers.
That evening to celebrate the amazing efforts and thank our volunteers the team hosted an evening of special performances and delicious food! The highlight being a team building ‘drum beats’ exercise. It turned into a drumming extravaganza, it was a rhythmical journey and a fun night for everyone!
