Welcome to this edition of Better Days,

Over the past few months, we have continued bringing together the best parts of Able Australia and Mosaic to build a stronger, more connected organisation that is ready to support people through a changing NDIS environment.

During this time, we launched our new Strategic Plan for 2026 to 2029. The plan was shaped by feedback from clients, families and employees, and focuses on what matters most: safe, high-quality supports, strong relationships, and services that continue to grow and improve over time.

Our three key priorities are:

  • Better Days, Every Day – delivering consistent, high-quality supports and experiences
  • Innovate for the Future – finding better ways of working and learning from what we do
  • Strengthen for Sustainability – making sure we are strong, stable and here for the long term

We have also continued developing our Practice Framework and welcomed Sam Coetzee as our new National Manager Client Experience. Sam will work closely with teams across the organisation to help strengthen person-centred practice and support consistent, high-quality experiences for the people we support.

Over recent months, we have also been consulting with employees, clients, families and other stakeholders on strengthening frontline leadership across our services. The goal is to support leaders to spend more time present in houses and services, alongside both clients and employees. A further update will be shared in early June.

As the disability sector continues to change, our focus remains the same: working together to deliver safe, high-quality and person-centred supports for the people we support and their families.

NDIS Reforms – how Able can support you through change

The Federal Budget has confirmed that changes to the NDIS will continue over the coming years. While many details are still being developed, the overall focus is on creating a more consistent and sustainable Scheme.

We understand that ongoing changes across the disability sector may feel worrying or uncertain for some people and families.

At Able, we remain committed to supporting people through these changes. The merger between Able Australia and Mosaic has strengthened our services, expanded our expertise and created more connected pathways of support.

We are already seeing positive outcomes for the people we support, including:

  • More flexibility when support needs or funding change
  • Better matching between people, homes and support teams
  • Stronger continuity across different stages of life and support needs
  • Greater collaboration across teams and services
  • More support for plan reviews, reassessments and funding changes

Our teams will continue working alongside people and families to navigate changes to the NDIS and advocate for practical, person-centred outcomes.

Most importantly, our focus remains the same: supporting people to live the life they choose.

Meet Sam, our new National Manager, Client Experience

We recently welcomed Sam Coetzee as our new National Manager, Client Experience.

Sam has been spending time with teams, the people we support and families, focusing on how we bring our practice framework to life and support consistent, person‑centred practice across our services.

Read on to hear from Sam about his experience so far and what’s coming next

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting several of our homes and services across Tasmanian sites Warrane, Bellerive, Rokeby, Vieste, Pitcairn and Queensland sites in Ipswich as part of my new role supporting the rollout of our Better Days Approach framework.

One of the most rewarding parts of these visits has been spending time with the people we support and their families – hearing stories, sharing laughs, being welcomed into homes, and seeing firsthand what matters most to each person. From having my nails painted to being proudly shown around someone’s home, these moments have been a reminder that meaningful relationships and genuine connection sit at the heart of great support.

I’ve also had the opportunity to meet many of our incredible frontline staff and see person-centred support in action. It’s often the small things that make the biggest difference: clear visual rosters showing who is supporting in the home, thoughtful environmental adjustments to improve accessibility, and active support approaches that encourage independence, choice and participation in everyday life.

Importantly, my role is also about listening. I want to hear openly and honestly from the people we support, families, carers and staff about what we are doing well and where we can continue to improve. Your feedback and ideas are essential in helping shape how we grow as an organisation and how we strengthen opportunities for community participation, connection and meaningful outcomes.

The Better Days Approach is about creating environments where people feel heard, valued, included and supported to live the life they choose. I’m incredibly excited to continue meeting more clients, families and staff over the coming months and working together to create even more opportunities for Better Days, Every Day.
