Recent news reports about some NDIS providers
Media Statement: 5 June 2024
As a client or family member of someone who uses the NDIS, you may have seen recent reports in the news about ‘large-scale fraud’, with some providers spending NDIS participant money or NDIS package funds inappropriately.
At Able Australia we are also concerned about these reports.
Able prides itself in being a reputable NDIS Registered Provider. As a Registered Provider, Able clients are supported by the highest quality standards and safeguards.
Our goal is to deliver Better Days, Every Day, with and for our clients. This means that we put our clients and their needs at the centre of how we work. At Able, we work every day according to our values of Trust, Respect, Excellence and Kindness.
Able also has processes in place to protect clients and safeguard the use of client money. We also work with clients to allocate money according to their wants, needs and goals. This includes:
- Service Agreements and Schedule of Supports agreeing with clients/carers how NDIS funds will be used. These are an agreement between the client, family and us about the services which Able will provide and how you will be charged for this.
- Monthly invoices sent to clients/carers detailing spent NDIS funds
- Annual adjustments and uplifts to NDIS funding are detailed in letters sent to clients/carers.
As a Registered NDIS Provider, Able also participates in regular NDIS and financial audits conducted by external bodies. We are dedicated to ensuring we safeguard the human rights of all people we support.
Able supports the call to investigate NDIS Providers who may not act in the best interests of clients.
We encourage clients and families to provide feedback through your regular Able Team member, or by contacting the Quality Team on feedback@ableaustralia.org.au.
