Michelle using tactile Auslan with her interpreter

Michelle is deafblind.  She was born with limited vision and later lost most of her hearing.  She knows how isolating ife can become. “Loneliness is really something that plays a big part in our life,” Michelle says.

For people who are deafblind, communication is about much more than conversation.  It is about spending time with friends and being part of the community. That’s why Able’s deafblind services are so important. Through group outings and camps, people who are deafblind can make friends and feel less isolated.

As a talented pianist, teacher and Deafblind Victoria advocate, Michelle has come so far from someone seeking support herself to enhancing the lives of others.

Please donate to help people who are deafblind experience joy through community activities and communication guide support.

Cody is fourteen years old. Although he is  non-verbal and has complex care needs, he lights up the room wherever he goes. He has been supported by Able’s Children’s Respite service for more than eight years.

At respite, he can enjoy activities and special outings alongside friends, creating fun experiences and lasting memories.

For Cody’s mum, Mel, that trusted support makes a real diffence. “Children’s Respite has honestly been a lifesaver,” she says.  “It gives us room to breathe.”

Your donation will help us give new toys, games and fun activities to young people with disability like Cody.
