We sat down with social butterfly Margie to chat with her about what makes Better Days, Every Day for her.

What does a typical day at Able look like for you?
I live in a beautiful house near the beach, I have been living there for seven years. Before that the house I lived in wasn’t very accessible. But I love my home now. I get on really well with my housemates, one of them I am very close friends with and have been for a long time, we love going out together.
I love my room, it is very “me” – colourful with decorations and photos everywhere. My dad bought me a projector, and one of the support workers helped install it so it projects onto the ceiling so I can watch movies in bed.

What is something you love to do in your own time?
Shopping! Going out for lunch. Going to Mona on the ferry.

What is a “fun fact” about you?
I love butterflies and even have a tattoo of one on my arm.

If a movie was made about your life, what kind of movie would it be, and what would be the soundtrack?
It would be a comedy musical with lots of dancing. The soundtrack would have Kylie Minogue – ‘I Should be so Lucky’, ‘Hand on my Heart’ and ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’. And I would definitely have “I’ve Had the Time of My Life’ from Dirty Dancing!

What makes Better Days, Every Day for you?
Being able to get out and about and being as independent as possible. I am looking forward to my dad coming down to Hobart from Townsville to visit me in March. I LOVE when I get to go on his yacht. He used to lift me up and put me in, and I would help wind the winch when we went sailing.
Having good support workers who make me laugh, dance with me and support me to get out and about doing the things I love.
I’m also really hoping to join the filming program and get back into performance. I love dressing up!
