Able’s History
Able Australia began more than 50 years ago as the Victorian Deafblind & Rubella Children’s Association and later the Deafblind Association. This specialist expertise grew into national leadership in deafblind services, communication, access and inclusive practice, an area we continue to be recognised for today. Over time, Able expanded into a national organisation known for innovation, specialist services and a strong commitment to person-centred support.
Mosaic’s history
Mosaic’s story spans over 40 years and brings together three Tasmanian organisations — COSMOS, STAR and Supported Housing. COSMOS Recreation Services was the first fully funded recreation centre for people with disability in Australia, offering innovative programs that increased community participation. STAR and Supported Housing played key roles in moving people from institutional living into their own homes. Mosaic became known for creativity, inclusion and supporting people to live life their way.
Stronger Together
By merging, we bring together Able’s wide range of disability expertise, its national reach and its long history in deafblind services with Mosaic’s strong local roots and community-focused practice. Together, we continue to deliver high-quality, responsive and inclusive services for the people we support.
