From July 2026, all Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers will need to be registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Able is already a proud registered provider, so nothing changes for your day-to-day supports. But this change strengthens the system around you, and that’s good news.

Why NDIS provider registration matters

NDIS registration isn’t about bureaucracy. It’s about safety, accountability and trust.

NDIS registered providers must meet national quality and safeguarding standards, designed to protect people with disability and support goals. These standards include::

  • Worker screening and training
  • Incident reporting and complaints handling
  • Rights, dignity and choice for people we support
  • Independent audits and external oversight

Without the jargon?

It means there are more eyes on safety, stronger expectations on providers and clear pathways if something isn’t right.

What this means for you at Able Supported Independent Living

  • Your supports continue as planned
  • Your routines, relationships and home stay the same
  • Your voice, choices and goals remain central
  • For people supported by Able, no action is required

F.A.Q.s

Q: What does “NDIS registered” actually mean?
A: It means the provider meets NDIS Practice Standards, is audited regularly, and has clear systems for safety, feedback, and improvement.

Q: How does registration help keep people safe?

A: By ensuring:

  • Stronger worker screening
  • Clear processes if something goes wrong
  • Ongoing independent monitoring
  • Rights are protected, not optional
  • Complaints are taken seriously and followed up

Q: How can I check if a provider is NDIS registered?

A: You can:

Q: Doesn’t registration mean more paperwork and less time for supports?

A: No. Good systems reduce duplication and confusion. At Able, we’re focused on smarter, more efficient ways to record what matters, so we spend more time on your experience, not on forms.

Paperwork should support good care, not compete with it.

Q: Will this change my funding or plan?

A: No. Registration is about provider standards, not your plan or funding.

Q: What if my current SIL provider isn’t registered yet?

A: They have time to prepare before July 2026. Registration shows they’re willing to meet national standards. If you’re unsure, talk to your Support Coordinator, they can help explore options if needed. Or you can talk to our experienced engagement team about our Supported Independent Living options.

Q: Why Able is ready?

A: We take safety seriously. We’re already registered and meet these standards every day. This change simply confirms the way we’ve always worked: with quality, safety, respect, and you at the centre.
