Please donate now to ensure people like Jack and Julie can experience a life of independence, full of opportunities.

Together, we are making dreams come true!

We support clients with disability across Australia to enjoy experiences of their choice, including everyday interests (like cooking classes) and community activities (such as taking clients swimming or going to the zoo). It is a privilege, alongside generous donors like you, to deliver our goal of better days, every day with and for our clients.

This is Julie. She lives with one other housemate at one of our Supported Independent Living homes in Queensland. Her home features a fully accessible kitchen and bathroom. Julie lives independently with the dedication of Able’s 24 hour staff. She loves regular activities including Mozart music programs, hydrotherapy and visiting the Sunday Market.

Julie’s dream is “to be able to do more things on my own like increasing my mobility and be even more independent!”

Tactile Communication

Imagine walking out of your front door and not being able to see the footpath, or hear what’s happening on the street. Deafblindness is the combination of hearing and vision impairment.

Established over 50 years ago as a provider of supports to the deafblind community, Able Australia are experts in deafblindness. Our Centre of Excellence in Deafblindness undertakes research, partnering with universities and people with deafblindness, to look at best practice in working with people who are both deaf and blind.

Jack is an enthusiastic part of Able’s Young Adults Program in Tasmania. The program focuses on health and wellbeing to build friendships and connection with others, improve quality of life and develop independence so that our clients like Jack can participate equally in activities available to the broader public.

Jack’s goals include going horseriding. For another client, it may be to learn to cook a meal for themselves. Participating in activities such as these and learning to live more independently can be so empowering for any of us.

Jack says, “Able is where I experience friendships whilst meeting my personal goals!”

Every dollar you donate will go towards supporting people with disability to live the life they choose.
