Deafblind Communication Guide Training Program 2021
Able Australia is looking for individuals who are fluent in Auslan and have a positive attitude and empathy to take part in a Deafblind Communication Guide training program.
Deafblind Communication Guides provide direct one to one support to people who are deafblind. They assist them with their communication and social needs, mobility, daily living activities and advocacy. The program consists of six classroom-based evening sessions, including assessment and 20 hours of online studies.

- What it means to be deafblind
- Deafblind communication methods
- Adaptive and assistive technology
- Sighted guide training
- What makes a good Communication Guide
After successful completion of this accredited training course you can choose to have your details added to a Deafblind Communication Guide Database. Disability support providers will have access to this database to source Communication Guides for their deafblind clients. Please note if you require a full time interpreter for all sessions this must be provided at own cost (interpreter costs are not included in the cost of the course).
